John O’Shea, also known as “doesalrite” online, is an Irish professional poker player from Dublin, Ireland, He has accumulated over $1.1 million in live earnings with his biggest cash being $199,888. He frequently plays at Boylepoker where he became a back-to-back European Championship of Online Poker (ECOOP) winner. The event was: Pot Limit Omaha hi-lo, in 2008 and 2009. 

John O’Shea: Early Life

John completed a degree in Commerce and later pursued a Masters in Accountancy. Although he worked as an accountant for four months, his focus was more on gambling than on his job. Drawing on his educational background, he approached poker with a business mindset, emphasizing planning, forecasting, and goal-setting. His decision to enter poker professionally was brought on one night when he won in a $50 and $100 RB. He took home a sum equivalent to his annual salary.

John O’Shea: Live Tournament Participation

John O’Shea first appeared in a recorded live tournament in December 2006. He entered the paddypowerpoker.com Christmas Cracker in Dublin. O’Shea joined in a €500 + 50 No Limit Hold’em event finishing 2nd and earning $19,919.

At the 39th World Series of Poker in Las Vegas in June 2008, O’Shea participated in a $2,500 No Limit Hold’em event. He secured 5th place and earned $98,923.

John achieved his biggest live cash at the Eighth Annual Five Star World Poker Classic in Las Vegas in April 2010. He participated in a $25,000 + 500 No Limit Hold’em Championship Event. He placed 6th and took home a cash prize of $199,888.

In December 2010 at the European Poker Tour in Prague, O’Shea secured 2nd place. He took part in a €10,000 + 300 High Roller No Limit Hold’em event and collected $100,484.

Continuing his placement streak, he placed 6th during the 46th WSOP in Las Vegas in June 2015. John engaged in a $3,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-low Split-8 or Better event and $52,324 was added to his earnings. 

Most recently, at the 55th World Series of Poker in Las Vegas in July 2024, O’Shea competed in a $10,000 No Limit Hold’em Main Event World Championship. He cashed for $17,500.
