John Murphy’s first recorded live cash occurred in August during the 2001 BARGE in Las Vegas. He finished in 8th place in a $70 No Limit Hold’em, cashing $355.

In May 2004, John played in a $10,000 World Championship event at the 35th WSOP. He finished in 13th place and secured his biggest live cash of $275,000.

2 months after, in July, he joined in a $2,000 + 80 No Limit Hold’em Event #2 during the 2004 Mirage Poker Showdown in Las Vegas. He finished in 1st place and won $191,672.

Following this, John entered in a $485 + 55 Pot Limit Hold’em at the L.A Poker Classic in February 2005. He clinched another victory and bagged a prize of $78,056.

He continued his winning streak as he secured his ring at the WSOPC in Lake Tahoe in November 2007. John took part in a $1,060 No Limit Hold’em and $21,379 added to his winnings.

Later in December of that year, he participated in a $5,000 + 180 No Limit Hold’em at Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic. John placed 6th and cashed $47,825.

In August 2021, John competed in a $165 + 35 Pot Limit Omaha Event #6 at the AUPT World Championship in Lincoln. He ended up in 11th place, earning $465.
