John Matson’s first recorded live cash occurred in March 2006 at Foxwoods Poker Classic in Mashantucket He finished in 14th place in a $260 + 40 No Limit Hold’em Shootout, cashing $2,142.

In October 2012, John entered in a $350 + 50 No Limit Hold’em Deepstack at the World Poker Finals in Mashantucket. He ended up in 3rd place, pocketing $9,843.

Following this, in June 2014, he took part in a $400 + 50 No Limit Hold’em at the Foxwoods Summer Kickoff & WSOP Main Event Qualifiers. He placed 2nd, securing his best live cash of $24,597.

Then, in August 2014, John played in a $365 No Limit Hold’em at the WSOP Circuit in Connecticut. He finished in 2nd place, taking home $12,539.

Later that year, in September, he participated in a $400 No Limit Hold’em at Foxwoods September 014 Weekend Mini Series. He made 4th place finish, claiming $11,561.

In February 2015, he joined in a $365 No Limit Hold’em Event #7 at the WSOPC in West Palm Beach. He finished in 1st place, winning $15,289.

In August 2022, John competed in a $260 No Limit Hold’em at Foxwoods Recurring Tournaments. He ended up in 27th place, earning $529.
