John Hom recorded his first live cash in June 1994. He participated in a $500 + 30 Limit Hold’em
during the California State Poker Championship in Los Angeles. He placed 9th and cashed $1,132.

In August 1995, John played in a $1,000 + 50 No Limit Hold’em during the Legends of Poker in Los Angeles. He finished in 2nd place and earned $37,950.

During the 28th World Series of Poker in Las Vegas in May 1997, he achieved 2nd place. He took part in a $3,000 Omaha 8 or Better and took home $72,600.

Following this, in November 2001, he entered the $500 + 40 No Limit Hold’em at the United States Poker Championship in Atlantic City. John clinched victory and won $40,515.
