John Q Hoang is an American professional poker player from Alhambra, California, with over $2.4 million in live tournament earnings. His best live cash of $222,187 came when he finished in 1st place at The Sixth Annual Jack Binion World Poker Open of Poker in January 2005.

John Hoang began his poker career with a notable performance at the $500 + $40 Seven Card Stud Poker Championship in Atlantic City in December 1999. He finished in 5th place and earned $2,640.

Subsequently, in January 2005, Hoang achieved a significant victory by winning 1st place in the $2,000 + $80 No Limit Hold’em event at The Sixth Annual Jack Binion World Poker Open in Tunica. His win earned him $222,187.

Moving forward to July 2006, Hoang competed in two events at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas. On July 5th, he finished 2nd in the $1,500 Seven Card Stud event, receiving $110,920. Then, on July 8th, he placed 5th in the $1,000 No Limit Hold’em tournament and received $139,073.

Later that year, in October 2006, Hoang took 2nd place in the $5,000 + $180 No Limit Hold’em Festa Al Lago V Poker Tournament in Las Vegas, earning $143,770.

Furthermore, in July 2007, he won 1st place in the $5,000 + $180 No Limit Hold’em Bellagio Cup III in Las Vegas. For this victory, he received $87,780.

Most recently, in June 2024, Hoang participated in the $600 No Limit Hold’em/Pot Limit Omaha Deepstack – 8-Handed event at the 55th WSOP in Las Vegas. Although he finished in 153rd place, he cashed $1,837.
