John Morgan, also known as “Bong Hog,” is an American professional poker player, businessman, and former CEO of Winmark Corporation from Omaha, Nebraska. He has earned over $1.2 million from live poker tournaments with his biggest live cash totaling $168,100. In addition, he appeared on No Gamble No Future.

John Morgan: Early Life

Raised in Omaha, John Morgan came from a blue-collar family. After attending the University of Nebraska-Omaha, he landed his first job at IBM in Des Moines, where his paycheck was more than his parents’. Following this, he left his IBM job and worked for Memorex. In 2000, he stepped into the CEO role from Jeff Dahlberg at Grow Bizz, which was renamed Winmark Corporation in 2001.

Morgan played a key role in preventing the company from going bankrupt by closely reviewing the franchisees’ finances and closing down underperforming Play It Again Sports stores. He led the company until 2016, when he was succeeded by Brett Heffes. Currently, he serves as the company’s Executive Chairman and occasionally plays poker.
