John Andress is an American professional poker player from Doylestown, Pennsylvania. He has accumulated live earnings exceeding $2.8 million, with his highest live cash amounting to $801,450. He currently serves as an Elite Instructor and Coach at Run It Once and holds the position of Head of Security at A5 Labs.
John graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing. He played poker professionally from 2010 for nine years before transitioning to a role as a Game Integrity Consultant for an online poker operator. He held this position until November 2019, when he was hired as the Head of Security for A5 Labs.
Andress first appeared in a recorded live tournament in September 2010. He entered the Borgata Poker Open in Atlantic City. John competed in a $1,000 + 90 No Limit Hold’em event and cashed for $2,549.
December 2011 marked a triumph for John. He participated in a €10,000 + 300 No Limit Hold’em – Re-Entry event at the European Poker Tour in Prague and won $236,186.
In February 2015, John joined the L.A. Poker Classic in Los Angeles. He finished 4th in a $5,250 No Limit Hold’em event and earned $70,000.
In August 2017, he won at the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open in Hollywood. He finished 1st place in a $25,500 No Limit Hold’em – High Roller event and secured his highest live cash amounting to $801,450.
Continuing his success, John played at the Aria Summer High Rollers in Las Vegas in June 2019. He won in a $10,000 No Limit Hold’em event and collected a grand prize of $128,800.
His most recent participation was in July 2024. He engaged in a $10,000 No Limit Hold’em – Main Event World Championship at the 55th World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. He took home $50,000.
