Joe Schulman recorded his first live cash in December 1999 when he participated in a $100 + $20 Seven Card Stud tournament at the Holiday Bonus Tournament in Los Angeles. Notably, he finished in 6th place, earning $825.

Subsequently, in February 2002, he entered the $500 + $40 Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo event at the L.A. Poker Classic in Los Angeles. There, Schulman achieved a significant milestone by winning the tournament, taking 1st place and cashing $39,960.
