Joe Petro placed 2nd in the $200 Pot Limit Omaha event at Amarillo Slim’s Superbowl of Poker in Las Vegas in February 1987, earning $37,220.

Then, on May 8, 1987, he won 1st place in the $1,000 Seven-Card Stud Split tournament at the 18th World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas, receiving $93,200 and a WSOP bracelet.
