Jimmy ‘Thong’ Tran is an American professional poker player from Las Vegas, Nevada, with over $2.7 million in live tournament earnings. His best live cash of $185,645 came when he finished in 10th place at the Fifth Annual Five Star World Poker Classic in April 2007.

Jimmy Tran’s poker career began in February 2000 at the $1,000 + $60 Pot Limit Hold’em event during the Poker Classic in Los Angeles, where he finished in 2nd place and took home $12,250.

Subsequently, in June 2004, he competed in the $9,900 + $100 No Limit Hold’em Championship at the California State Poker Championship in Los Angeles. There, he finished 4th and cashed $62,370.

In April 2007, Tran played in the $25,000 + $500 WPT No Limit Hold’em Championship at the Fifth Annual Five Star World Poker Classic in Las Vegas. He achieved a 10th place finish and earned $185,645.

Later that year, in December 2007, he entered the $15,000 + $400 Doyle Brunson Classic at the Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic in Las Vegas. He placed 8th and earned $154,170.

Years after, Tran participated in the $10,000 World Championship No Limit Hold’em at the 41st World Series of Poker in Las Vegas in July 2010, where he finished 112th and cashed $57,102.

Following this, he made a return in June 2021 to play in a $1,100 No Limit Hold’em MSPT event at the DeepStack Championship Poker Series in Las Vegas. There, he placed 6th and took home $86,155.

in July 2024, Tran entered the $600 No Limit Hold’em Ultra Stack at the 55th World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. He finished in 518th place and cashed $1,600.
