Jimmy Cha is a South Korean-American professional poker player from La Habra, California, with over $398.7K in live tournament earnings. His best live cash of $77,663 came when he finished in 3rd place at the WPT Borgata Poker Open in September 2004.
Born on October 15, 1951 in Seoul, South Korea, Jimmy attended Dongguk University. During his study, he learned to play poker and also awarded as South Korean National Amateur Champion two times in a row. He moved to the U.S. in 1975, and in 1991, he made his mark in the poker world by finishing fourth in the Hall of Fame Poker Classic, which was his first live tournament.
Jimmy Cha first recorded live cash occurred in November during the Hall Of Fame Poker Classic 1991 in Las Vegas. He finished in 4th place in a $2,500 + 60 Limit Hold’em, cashing $17,388.
On February 9th, 1996, Jimmy played in a $2,500 + 60 No Limit Hold’em at Amarillo Slim’s Superbowl of Poker in Los Angeles. He finished in 1st place and won $43,875.
Shortly after, on February 28th, Jimmy entered in a $5,000 + 80 No Limit Hold’em – Championship Event at the L.A Poker Classic. He finished in 4th place and took home $20,500.
