Jim Shaw’s first recorded live cash occurred in August 2004 at the Fourth Annual Jack Binion Mid-America Poker Classic. He finished in 32nd place in a $2,000 + 200 No Limit Hold’em Championship, cashing $5,448.
Following this, in February 2006, Jim entered in a $200 + 30 Limit Omaha Hi/Lo at the Oklahoma State Championship of Poker. He made 1st place finish, winning $10,508.

Fast foward to September 2015. He joined in a $3,300 + 200 No Limit Hold’em Championship Main Event #18 at the WPT Borgata Poker Open. Jim placed 32nd, claiming $12,821.
In March 2019, Jim competed in a $250 No Limit Hold’em – Seniors Event #1 at the WSOP Circuit in Tulsa. He ended up in 9th place, earning $1,202.
