Jim Lester recorded his first live cash in February 2000. He participated in a $300 + 30 No Limit Hold’em
at the L.A. Poker Classic in Los Angeles. He finished in 4th place and cashed for $9,144.

In April 2001, he achieved his best live cash by competing in a $3,000 + $120 Texas Hold’em Limit event at the 32nd WSOP in Las Vegas. He finished in 1st place, winning $233,490 and a WSOP bracelet.

Following this, on May 3rd, 2001, he entered the $2,500 + 100 Omaha (pot limit) at the 32nd WSOP. Jim finished 2nd place and earned $89,240.

Shortly after, on May 10th, 2001, he joined $3,000 + 120 Texas Hold’em (no limit) at the 32nd WSOP. He placed 7th and took home $27,790.
