Jason Sagle, a professional poker player from Niagara Falls, Canada, with over $4.6 million in live tournament earnings. His biggest achievement came in July 2024, when he finished in 4th place at the 55th WSOP, earning an impressive $3,000,000. Known by his nickname “bigbird,” Jason has established himself as a prominent figure in poker.
Jason Sagle was born in Sudbury, Ontario, on September 12, 1979. From a young age, he dreamed of becoming a police officer. After high school, he attended college and volunteered with the police auxiliary, which gave him a taste of police life. However, after finishing college, he reconsidered his career path when his best friend introduced him to the lucrative world of insurance. This new opportunity took him to Barrie, Ontario.
While in Barrie, Jason started playing poker at a local casino. He primarily played online, appreciating the flexibility it offered, which allowed him to spend more time with his family. Although the initial months were challenging, his hard work and determination eventually paid off. Jason won numerous major online tournaments, marking the beginning of his successful poker career.
Sagle recorded his first live cash in April 2003, he secured 7th place in a $200 + $30 Limit Hold’em event at the New England Poker Classic in Mashantucket, receiving $2,931.
Following this success, in May 2004, he achieved 23rd place in the $10,000 World Championship Event at the 35th World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, taking home $120,000.
Continuing his impressive run, in October 2006, Sagle captured 2nd place in the $10,000 + $300 WPT North American Poker Championships in Niagara Falls, netting $600,455.
Then, in February 2015, he claimed 1st place in a $1,000 + $100 No Limit Hold’em tournament at the Fallsview Poker Classic in Niagara Falls, which earned him $155,599.
Moreover, in November 2023, he placed 8th in the $3,500 No Limit Hold’em Championship at the World Poker Tour Seminole Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open in Hollywood, cashing out $94,500.
Moving forward in July 2024, he finished 4th in the $10,000 No Limit Hold’em Main Event at the 55th World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, earning a remarkable $3,000,000.
In a recent appearance in September 2024, he ended up in 27th place in the $3,000 + $300 No Limit Hold’em High Roller event at the WSOP International Circuit in Kahnawake, earning $3,335.
