Jared Jaffee, is an American poker player, who was born on February 21, 1981, in Staten Island, New York. Jared Jaffee has won a WSOP bracelet, three WSOP Circuit rings, and one WPT title in both the World Series of Poker and the World Poker Tour. He now has approximately $6.5 million in live tournament earnings.

Jared Jaffee: Early Life

Jared Jaffee never intended to become a professional poker player. He wanted to be a lawyer and work for a well-known firm in New York. Things went differently for Jaffee, who earned his undergraduate degree in political science.

He applied for a number of jobs and was selected for almost all of them, but he declined those offers because the idea of working a regular 9-to-5 job did not excite him. Instead, he took a pizza delivery job because the flexible hours allowed him to pursue some of his hobbies, one of which was poker.

In 2004, Jaffee had the opportunity to win a free cruise and an entry into the 2004 Party Poker Million, which was held on a cruise ship. He also stated that he would like to play against top professional poker players. He was eliminated within 90 minutes and returned to delivering pizza and playing at poker clubs on the side.

Jaffee’s parents weren’t happy with his chosen profession and encouraged him to continue his studies. He then decided to attend Brooklyn Law School and passed the bar three years later. However, his true passion was poker, and at the poker table, he decided to devote his entire life to poker and has never looked back.

Jared Jaffee: Poker Career

Jared Jaffee began playing poker in 2000. Since then, he has focused only on professional poker and has experienced huge ups and downs.

Jaffee’s bracelet and largest live cash came from a first-place finish in the $1,500 NLH Mixed Max event at the 2014 WSOP, and he won $405,428. He also won the WPT $3,500 Jacksonville Main Event in November 2013 for $252,749, his first WPT title.

In 2010, he had a fantastic year, winning the Southern Poker Championship preliminary event for $50,000 finishing fourth in the main event for another $135,000. Other career highlights include finishing second in the main event of the Wynn Classic for $246,477 and third in the Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS) event for $95,982.

Jaffee’s poker success extends beyond the WSOP and the WPT. In 2018, he won a $25,000 High Roller at ARIA for $299,000, his third-largest live cash to that point, and later that year finished second in a PokerMasters $25,000 event for $262,500.

He also won the WPT Choctaw Main Event in early May 2023, giving him his second World Poker Tour victory. The 2023 WPT Choctaw Main Event took place from May 5–8, with 612 entries and a total prize pool of $2.1 million. Jaffee was the last man standing, and the prize was the second-largest of his career: $400,740.

Conclusion

Jaffee has stated in the past what he enjoys most about live tournaments. Stating that his favorite aspect is that every time he sits down, he has a new experience. Although not all of them are excellent, the uncertainty of his surroundings and the people he will play with is exciting.

As of right now, he is still playing, and he has an objective that he hopes to accomplish soon, which is winning an EPT Title and achieving poker’s “Triple Crown.”
