Jani Vilmunen is an Finnish poker player from Porvoo, Finland, with over $883K in live tournament earnings. His best live cash of $336,396 came when he clinched his first bracelet at the World Series Of Poker Europe in September 2009.

In late 2009, Vilmunen signed a sponsorship deal with now-defunct full tilt poker. He started his poker career at the old Helsinki casino, where, he benefited from a relaxed atmosphere, as most players didn’t take the game seriously. This environment helped him develop his skills before the competition intensified.

Jani Vilmunen: Live Tournament Participation

Jani Vilmunen began his poker career in September 2000 at the Autumn Tournament in Paris, where he entered a €2,500 No Limit Hold’em event. He finished in 7th place and cashed $989.

During the 37th World Series of Poker in Las Vegas in July 2006, he competed in a $10,000 Pot Limit Omaha tournament. He again placed 7th, earning $81,968.

In July 2008, Vilmunen participated in the $10,000 World Championship No Limit Hold’em at the 39th World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. Although he finished in 322nd place, he still cashed $32,166.

Later that same year, in August 2008, he entered a €1,000 Pot Limit Omaha event at the Finnish Open Championships in Helsinki. There, he won the tournament, securing $53,007.

Year after, he played in the £5,000 + 250 Pot Limit Omaha event at the World Series of Poker Europe in London. He achieved a 1st place finish, earning $336,396 and a WSOP Bracelet.

Continuing his success, in January 2011, Vilmunen participated in the €2,850 + 150 No Limit Hold’em Main Event at the Helsinki Freezeout in Helsinki. He finished in 2nd place, cashing $63,147.

Most recently, in August 2024, he took part in the €960 + 140 No Limit Hold’em ESPT Main Event (Event #1) at EPT Barcelona. He finished in 404th place, cashing $4,399.
