Jan Suchanek

Jan Suchanek was an Australian poker player who passed away in 2022. Born in Prague, he lived in Nelson, New Zealand. He earned $1.1 million in total live tournament winnings, with his best cash of $142,447 coming in July 2016 at the 47th WSOP, where he finished 49th. He ranked 5th on New Zealand’s All-Time Money List.

Jan Suchanek recorded his first live cash in September 2005, finishing 124th in the $5,200 Championship Event – No Limit Hold’em at the Ultimate Poker Classic in Palm Beach. He earned $5,500 for his performance.

In April 2013, Suchanek competed in the A$5,000 No Limit Hold’em – 6 Handed event at the WSOP APAC in Melbourne. He placed 3rd, winning A$103,766 ($108,594).

In July 2014, he then participated in the $1,500 10-Game Mix event at the 45th WSOP in Las Vegas. Suchanek secured 2nd place, earning $94,618.

In his most recent participation, in March 2021, Suchanek won the NZ$660 No Limit Hold’em – Big Bounty event at the Wellington Poker Championships in Christchurch, earning $5,730.
