One of his career highlights occurred on July 3rd, 2023, during the 54th World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas. He competed in the WSOP PKRGO $10,000 No Limit Hold’em – WSOP Main Event (Bracelet Event 76), finishing in 4th place and winning a significant prize of $3,000,000.
Jan experienced his greatest poker triumph in 2012, clinching a WSOP bracelet by winning the $10,000 Pot Limit Omaha event, pocketing a hefty $661,000 prize. His path to victory led through a daunting final table populated by formidable opponents, among them the renowned poker legend and mixed-game specialist, Jason Mercier.
However, a dark chapter overshadowed Jan’s success in 2014. During the late hours of Christmas Eve, his home fell victim to a robbery, and amidst the stolen valuables, his cherished WSOP bracelet was taken. Despite the burglars making off with a substantial sum of cash amounting to five figures, Jan openly confessed that it was the loss of his bracelet that inflicted the deepest pain. He lamented, “For me, this was the worst Christmas of my life.”
Despite offering a significant reward for its safe return, the German businessman never saw his prized possession again, leaving a lingering sense of loss and disappointment.
