James Van Alstyne is an American professional poker player from Las Vegas, Nevada, with over $4.4M in live tournament earnings. His best live cash of $439,375 came when he finished in 5th place at the Fourth Annual Five-Star World Poker Classic in April 2006. During his poker career, he won at the 40th WSOP in June 2009.
James Van Alstyne’s first recorded live cash occurred in January 1994 at the Queens Poker Classic IV in Las Vegas. He finished in 3rd place in a $2,500 + 60 No Limit Hold’em Deuce to Seven Draw, cashing $20,250.
In April 2006, James played in a $25,000 + 500 No Limit Hold’em – WPT Championship at the urth Annual Five-Star World Poker. He finished in 5th place and secured his biggest live cash of $439,375.
Following this, James entered in a $1,500 + 80 No Limit Hold’em at the L.A Poker Classic in February 2007. He finished in 1st place and won $187,895.
Later in March of that year, he participated in a $9,600 + 400 No Limit Hold’em – Championship Event at the WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star in San Jose. James finished in 4th place and took home $250,000.
At the 40th World Series of Poker in Las Vegas on June 9th, 2009, he earned a cash prize of $192,866. James played in a $3,000 H.O.R.S.E. and secured 2nd place.
Shortly after, on June 14th, 2009, he returned to the 40th WSOP to join in a $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. He clinched his first WSOP bracelet and won $247,033.
In a recent appearance in September 2024, James competed in a No Limit Hold’em w/$200 Rebuys at the Lodge $100,000 GTD True Freeroll in Round Rock. He ended up in 124th place, earning $200.
