Ilya Nikiforov: Poker Career

Nikiforov’s poker journey began on April 9th, 2010, when he joined the Betfair Poker Live event in Tallinn, Estonia, competing in the €550 No Limit Hold’em Main Event. Though he didn’t clinch the top spot, his 6th place still earned him a respectable $4,830.

Continuing his pursuit of victory, he traveled to Barcelona, Spain, on May 27th, 2011, for the World Poker Tour (WPT) Spanish Championship. There, he triumphed in the €1,100 No Limit Hold’em event, claiming 1st place and a substantial $33,957 prize.

Undeterred by setbacks, Nikiforov faced tough competition once again on July 17th, 2011, at the World Poker Tour (WPT) Slovenia in Portorose. Despite finishing 11th in the €3,300 No Limit Hold’em Main Event, he still walked away with $15,900.

His determination paid off on July 1st, 2022, during the 53rd World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas, United States. Competing in the WSOP PKRGO $7,000 No Limit Hold’em Super Turbo Bounty, Nikiforov secured an impressive 3rd place, earning $254,791.

A Rollercoaster of Tournament Triumphs and Trials

Returning to his homeland, Nikiforov claimed victory once more on September 17th, 2022, at the Kings of Tallinn 2022 tournament in Estonia. His win in the €3,000 No Limit Hold’em Kings Of Tallinn 2022 High Roller event earned him $36,374.

On December 17th, 2023, at the World Poker Tour – WPT World Championship in Las Vegas, despite finishing 3rd in the $3,000 No Limit Hold’em event, he took home an impressive $492,826.

However, not every tournament brought success. On March 11th, 2024, at the Triton Poker Super High Roller Series Jeju in South Korea, Nikiforov placed 16th in the TRITON $53,000 No Limit Hold’em – 8-Handed event, earning $126,000.

His journey reached its latest chapter at the $100k NLH Main Event in Jeju 2024 on March 14th, where Nikiforov unfortunately did not cash, showcasing that even the best face setbacks in the world of poker.
