Hasan Habib: Early Life

Hasan Habib was born on April 19th, 1962, in Karachi, Pakistan, as the eldest of four siblings in a privileged family. From a young age, he aspired to attend an American university and participate in athletics. At 14, he won a national championship in tennis in Pakistan, showing his talent early on. In 1980, at the age of 18, Hasan immigrated to the United States, where he began running a chain of video stores while pursuing his dreams.

He attended the University of Redlands in California, studying business and joining the university’s successful tennis team. However, in 1985, he began playing poker as a hobby in local cash games and California card rooms. After dedicating himself to studying the game and growing his bankroll, he ultimately decided to quit school and pursue poker professionally, working hard to make a living at the tables.

Hasan Habib recorded his first live cash in August 1993. He participated in a $1,000 + $50 Omaha Hi/Lo tournament at the Jim Brady Month event in Bell Gardens, Los Angeles. Habib finished in 2nd place and took home $31,250.

Later, in April 2004, Habib achieved his best live cash at the WPT Championship in Las Vegas. He competed in a $25,000 No Limit Hold’em event. Hasan finished in 2nd place and earned a whopping $1,372,223.
