Eric Liebeler recorded his first live cash in February 2001, he competed in the $300 + $30 Limit Hold’em event at the Poker Classic in Los Angeles. He placed 3rd and earned $30,495.

Two years later, in February 2003, Liebeler entered the $1,500 + $80 Seven Card Stud Championship at the Poker Classic in Los Angeles. He finished in 2nd place, earning $72,485.

Following this success, in August 2003, he participated in the $1,000 + $60 Limit Hold’em tournament at the Legends of Poker in Bell Gardens, Los Angeles. He won 1st place and won $54,000.
