Eric Buchman, born on September 11th, 1979, is an American professional poker player from Valley Stream, New York. He has achieved over $4.3 million in live tournament earnings throughout his career. Notably, his highest live cash of $2,502,890 occurred when he placed 4th at the 40th World Series of Poker (WSOP) in July 2009.
Buchman has also won two WSOP bracelets, securing his first at the 41st WSOP in June 2010 and his second at the 45th WSOP in June 2014. Furthermore, he was sponsored by Full Tilt Poker, a now-defunct online poker site.
Buchman graduated from SUNY Albany with a bachelor’s degree. He grew up in New York as a modest kid and became interested in poker because of his older brother. They would often visit a local Indian casino where the minimum age to play was 18, and they also explored underground poker rooms in New York City.
For the past years, Buchman has worked steadily to improve his skills and move up in stakes. He has shown a wide range of tournament skills and has had success by cashing in several events at the World Series of Poker (WSOP).
Buchman recorded his first live cash in December 2002, finishing 9th in the $300 + $30 Limit Hold’em event at the United States Poker Championship in Atlantic City, where he earned $1,588.
Subsequently, in April 2004, he won 1st place at the $2,500 + $150 No Limit Hold’em Championship at the New England Poker Classic in Mashantucket, which brought him a substantial $275,400.
Moreover, in June 2006, Buchman secured 2nd place in the $1,500 Limit Hold’em event at the 37th World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas, earning $174,938.
Following this, in December 2007, he finished 2nd in the $5,150 No Limit Hold’em Main Event at the WSOP Circuit in Atlantic City, cashing in for $208,666.
However, his biggest achievement came in July 2009 at the 40th WSOP in Las Vegas, where he placed 4th in the $10,000 World Championship No Limit Hold’em, earning an impressive $2,502,890.
In addition, in June 2010, he won the $2,000 Limit Hold’em event at the 41st WSOP, securing $203,607 for 1st place.
Most recently, in July 2024, he participated in the $700 + $300 Pot Limit Omaha – Mystery Bounty event at the 55th WSOP in Las Vegas, finishing 251st and cashing $1,810.
