Meet  Elton Tsang, hailing from Canada and now a prominent figure in Hong Kong’s poker, investment, and business domains. He has cemented his status as an icon on the global poker stage through his contributions to several remarkable milestones. One of these accomplishments includes his victory at the Monte-Carlo One Drop Extravaganza. Tsang’s exceptional skills earned him a staggering $12,248,912 victory in a high-stakes game that required a €1 million buy-in.

Elton Tsang: Early Life

Elton Tsang, born in Canada, discovered poker while studying at The University of British Columbia. After finishing his studies, he entered the emerging poker scene in Hong Kong, seeing both poker and business potential. He organized a successful poker tournament at the Grand Waldo Casino in Macau, aiming to attract and retain casino customers. The tournament gained traction with help from respected director Matt Savage. Additionally, sponsorship from PokerStars, who also had an interest in exploring opportunities in Asia, played a crucial role. Moving on, he drew inspiration from pros thriving on the circuit, motivating him to enhance his skills and performance.

In addition to his journey, he was influenced by his online poker background and support from friends. He secured a PCA seat through an online satellite, kickstarting his career. Transitioning to live cash games in Hong Kong, he co-founded a poker room called The Blue Room that eventually closed. Despite setbacks, Tsang thrived in poker, progressing to higher stakes. Learning from pros like Matt Kirk, he honed his skills and secured his first title in a 2010 HK$ 7,500 + 500 No Limit Hold’em event. This victory against John Hoang earned him $71,307. This enabled him to excel in Macau’s cash games and achieve financial stability.

Elton Tsang: Poker Career

Tsang’s commanding performance led him to victory in the 2016 Big One for One Drop, the largest buy-in poker tournament. Initially third in chips, rapidly claimed the lead on the final day and accumulated chips steadily as opponents were eliminated. The event, held at Monaco’s Casino de Monte Carlo for the first time instead of Las Vegas, the tourney boasted a unique invitation-only format. This intentionally excluded professional players from participation. With a €1,000,000 buy-in, the tournament allocated 11.11% of every entry to ONE DROP, aiding clean water initiatives. This partnership with WSOP/ONE DROP amassed over $17,000,000 in donations.

Becoming the champion, China’s Elton Tsang defeated Anatoly Gurtovoy heads-up, thus securing the title and a substantial €11,111,111 ($12,188,889 USD) prize. This remarkable victory stands as one of the most substantial prizes in poker history.

Progressing in his career, Tsang engaged in various Triton Poker Series events, culminating in his first Triton title. His second victory came in the $50,000 No-Limit Hold’em event at the April 2022 Super High Roller Series Europe. He secured $684,000 with a standout achievement among 38 entries, contributing to a $1,900,000 prize pool for his victory. His triumphant win boosted his remarkable live earnings, now at $15,715,600. This victory also led him to lead Hong Kong’s All Time Money List and hold the 64th global ranking.

Conclusion

Obviously, with an array of triumphs and a promising trajectory, Elton Tsang’s enduring presence continues to resonate in the international poker arena.
