Born on February 10, 1948, in Athens, Tennessee. After finishing high school, Eddie left his hometown to attend Brewton-Parker College, where he earned his degree. Following graduation, he served honorably in the United States Marine Corps, dedicating himself to his country. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, loved playing golf, and was an avid poker player
Eddie Rayl’s first recorded live cash occurred in January 2005 at the Sixth Annual Jack Binion World Poker Open. He finished in 8th place in a $500 + 50 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo, cashing $3,694.
Following this, Eddie joined in a $300 + 40 No Limit Hold’em at the WSOPC in New Orleans in November 2007. He finished in 1st place and won $19,269.
In September 2009, he played in a $300 + 40 No Limit Hold’em during the Gulf Coast Poker Championship in Biloxi. He finished in 1st place and won his biggest live cash of $32,956.
Fast forward to May 2017. At the bestbet Orange Park Deepstack, he won $11,689. In this event, Eddie engaged in a $200 No Limit Hold’em and finished in 1st place.
At the WPT bestbet Bounty Scramble in October 2018, he cashed $56,360. Eddie entered in a $570 No Limit Hold’em Event #7 and secured 3rd place.
Continuing his career, he finished in 2nd place at the WSOPC North Carolina in December 2002, taking home $18,317.
His final appearance was on August 15th, 2023. He competed in a $400 No Limit Hold’em Event #4 at the Card Player Poker Tour in Jacksonville. Jeff ended up in 7th place, earning $961. This event occurred three months before his passing on June 19th, 2017.
