Derek Dix’s first recorded live cash occurred in June 2004 at the Summer Pot of Gold Tournament in Reno. He finished in 3rd place in a $200 + 20 No Limit Hold’em, cashing $2,747.

In July 2005, Derek entered in a $10,000 No Limit Texas Hold’em World Championship at the 36th WSOP. He ended up in 51st place, securing his best live cash of $173,880.

Following this, in March 2006, Derek played in a $500 + 50 No Limit Hold’em at the World Poker Challenge in Reno. He made 3rd place finish, claiming $13,845.

Then, in July 2007, he participated in a $500 No Limit Hold’em at the 1st Annual Binion’s Poker Classic in Las Vegas. He finished in 1st place, winning $16,000.
