David Silverman

David Silverman is an American poker player, secular advocate and the president of American Atheists. He has earned over $76.8K from live poker tournaments, with his biggest live cash totaling $40,654.

In addition, he is the founder of NFM Lending, a mortgage company and author of Fighting God: An Atheist Manifesto for a Religious World (2015). He appeared on Poker After Dark.

David Silverman: Early Life

Born in Marblehead, Massachusetts, David attended Brandeis University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science. After graduating, he pursued an MBA in marketing at Pennsylvania State University and obtained an Advanced Graduate Certificate in International Business from Seton Hall University. Before being elected as president of American Atheists on September 16, 2010, he held several key roles within the organization. His journey began as the New Jersey State Director, followed by serving as the Communications Director, and eventually stepping into the role of Vice President.

Silverman’s first live cash was in July 2005 during the 36th WSOP in Las Vegas. He placed 201st in a $10,000 No Limit Hold’em – World Championship Event, earning $33,197.

In July 2011, he finished 252nd in a $10,000 No Limit Hold’em during the 42nd WSOP, securing his best live cash of $40,654.
