David Grey is an American professional poker player from Henderson, Nevada, best known for his success in cash games, though he has also earned several notable tournament victories. With total live tournament earnings of $1,639,507, his best live cash of $365,135 came from winning 1st place at the 36th WSOP in Las Vegas in July 2005. Grey is a two-time WSOP bracelet winner.

David Grey: Early Life

David Grey, born in Henderson, Nevada, graduated high school but did not pursue further formal education. He first encountered poker while attending horse races, passing the time with Seven Card Stud. His skill quickly grew, and he developed a reputation for his all-around playing style and disciplined approach, adhering to the rules and focusing on self-control and game selection.

In the late 90s and early 2000s, Grey became known as one of the best high-stakes cash players, competing with notable figures like Larry Flynt and Rene Angelil. Despite his success, he avoided international tournaments, believing that the best poker action was found in Las Vegas, rather than abroad.

David Grey’s first recorded live cash was in January 1987. He finished 5th in the $5,000 No Limit 2-7 Draw at the America’s Cup of Poker in Las Vegas. He earned $6,600.

In November 1991, Grey won 1st place in the $2,560 Limit Hold’em. There, at the Hall of Fame Poker Classic in Las Vegas. He took home $107,000.

In May 1996, Grey placed 4th in the $5,000 No Limit Deuce to Seven Draw at the WSOP in Las Vegas. He earned $32,500.

In May 2003, Grey finished 8th in the $10,000 World Championship Event at the WSOP in Las Vegas. His earnings totaled $160,000.

His best live cash came in July 2005. Grey took 1st place in the $5,000 No Limit Deuce to Seven Draw at the WSOP, winning $365,135.

In June 2016, Grey placed 4th in the $10,000 No Limit 2-7 Draw Lowball Championship (Event #16). There, at the WSOP in Las Vegas, earning $86,302.

He was last seen participating in June 2016. Grey finished 8th in the $10,000 Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo Split-8 or Better Championship (Event #43) at the WSOP in Las Vegas, winning $36,044.
