Dao Minh Phu. CEO of Nexttext Group of Technopreneurs and a poker player from Vietnam.  Leading the way in the rapidly growing digital commerce sector, primarily concentrating on E-Commerce, Fintech (Payment and Credit), and E-Logistics, with presence in South East Asia and the United States. He’s also a champion in poker, winning the Triton Poker Super High Roller Series in Vietnam in 2023 and taking home a huge prize of $1,670,000. He’s earned a total of $3,288,685 from all his poker games combined, making him the top earner in Vietnam.

Early Life

Phú shared that through poker, he gained a lot of useful insights for his business. For example, during his tournaments, he gets to know a lot of people quickly which he finds attractive and useful in life, and it can support his business. 

Phu knows how to balance his time between things he loves: poker, his job, and his family. While his friends play sports or hang out on weekends, Phu chooses to focus on poker. He doesn’t play golf or drink alcohol during this time. Even though he’s not a pro player, he enjoys poker tournaments held on weekends. He also arranges his work week to play in important tournaments. Phu’s company is in technology, so he mostly uses computers and phones for work. When he goes to faraway tournaments, like the one in Hoi An, he brings his family along for a fun trip. This way, he makes sure to spend time on things that matter to him, which is a smart plan. Everyone has their interests, and finding time for them is important.

Đào Minh Phú: Poker Career

In 2019, Phu joined Poker, excelling in domestic, international events, earning high ranks in Asian Poker Tour (APT).

In the recent Triton Series, the $50,000 NLH 8-Handed 2023 event took place in Quang Nam at the beginning of March. At this event, Dao Minh Phu performed remarkably to secure the championship title. With this victory, Mr. Dao Minh Phu won a prize of $1.67 million USD (nearly 40 billion VND). After the event, Mr. Phu expressed joy as it was his debut in a major tournament with satisfying outcomes. Given that he only started learning poker three years ago. 

Throughout his path to victory, Dao Minh Phu overcame prominent global poker players including Justin Bonomo, Dan Smith, and more. It’s noteworthy that Bonomo and Kenney are considered two of the best players at the current time. This duo has earned more than $55 million USD in prize money from live poker events. In the final round, Mr. Phu had to compete against a strong opponent from China, Biao Ding. With consistent performance and strategy, Dao Minh Phu ultimately secured the victory.
