Born in Hong Kong and raised in the United Kingdom, Danny Tang started his poker career by playing low-stakes tournaments in and around the UK. He made quiet an impression when he finished second in the $550 No Limit Hold’em Deep Stack Main Event in Nottingham for just under $50,000. He made his debut at World Series of Poker in 2016 by securing five cashes in his first series.

Danny Tang: Early Life

If Danny Tang appears to have appeared out of thin air to play poker at the highest stakes, that is precisely what happened. Despite being from Hong Kong, Tang spent much of his childhood in the UK where he went to primary school to college.

He developed new interest in his late teenage years and continued to play soccer during his time in college. Mixed martial arts, partying and after hours at the casino are a few of them. Those drinks led him to pit games, which Tang quickly realized to be a losing endeavor. Eventually, he made his way into the poker room and selected a game that he believed he may be able to win – or at the very least, not lose as rapidly.

When Tang first started playing poker, he had no big goals beyond the hope that he could make a modest living by playing £1/£ No Limit Cash games. He afterwards learned about the poker tournament.
