Chau Vu first recorded live cash occurred in April 1998 at the Bay 101 Shooting Star in San Jose. He finished in 8th place in a $1,000 No Limit Hold’em, cashing $4,050.

Year later, he joined in a $1,000 + 50 No Limit Hold’em – Catch A Shooting Star at the Bay 101 Shooting Star in April 2000. He finished in 5th place and took home $6,400.

In March 2005, Chau played in a $9,750 + 250 No Limit Hold’em Championship at the WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star. He finished in 2nd place and earned $21,035.
