Charlie Shoten recorded his first live cash in March 1997, he began by playing in the $200 + 20 Omaha Hi/Lo tournament at the Winnin’ o’ The Green in Los Angeles, where he finished in 6th place and earned $765.

Moving forward, in July 2002, Shoten achieved 1st place in the $3,000 + 50 No Limit Hold’em tournament at the Larry Flynt Grand Slam of Poker in Gardena, securing $112,800.

His success continued with a significant performance in September 2003 at the World Poker Tour Borgata Poker Open in Atlantic City. There, Shoten reached the Final Table of the $5,000 + 150 No Limit Hold’em Championship and finished in 2nd place, earning $235,000.
