Bruce Buffer is an American professional poker player and a mixed martial arts ring announcer, known for his role as the UFC‘s veteran voice and a world-ranked poker player with multiple appearances on TV shows, including Hustler Casino Live. He is also a co-founder of the Buffer Partnership, a company that he runs with his half-brother, and he also holds a black belt in Tang Soo Do and has fought as a kickboxer.
Buffer made his debut on HCL in Episode 649. The stakes were set at $10/20/40 with a $20 big blind ante. Unfortunately, Buffer ended the night with a loss of $2020. He shared the table with other notable poker players and personalities, including Nate Hill, Nick Vertucci, Raver Poker, and more.
Bruce Buffer had his first recorded live tournament in 2005, where he finished 19th in a $300 + 40 No Limit Hold’em tournament at the National Championship of Poker in Inglewood.
In 2006, Buffer participated in the $300 + 40 No Limit Hold’em 2006 Ho Ho Hold’em Tournament in Los Angeles, finishing 19th once again. However, it was in 2007 that he began to make a bigger impact on the poker scene. He finished 4th in the $1,000 + 70 No Limit Hold’em tournament at the 2007 National Championship of Poker and 25th in the $970 + 70 No Limit Hold’em tournament at the 2007 Legends of Poker in Los Angeles.
In 2009, Buffer had a series of significant finishes, including a 7th place finish in the $1,000 + 80 No Limit Hold’em tournament at the Bellagio Summer Dailies in Las Vegas and a 14th place finish in the $1,000 + 80 Nightly No Limit Hold’em tournament at the Bellagio Cup III, also in Las Vegas.
In 2010, Buffer had his best finish yet, finishing 2nd in the $20,000 Week 10 – Mixed Martial Arts Entry-restricted tournament at Poker After Dark Season VI in Las Vegas. He also had a series of other notable finishes, including 1st place in the $200 + 25 No Limit Hold’em – Main Event at the Grand Slam of Poker in Gardena, and 12th place in the $1,500 + 175 No Limit Hold’em – Main Event at the WSOP Circuit in Los Angeles.
Despite his busy schedule as the voice of the UFC, Buffer continues to make time for his passion for poker. His most recent finish was 36th place in the $230 No Limit Hold’em (Event #16) World Poker Tour – WPT Legends of Poker, Los Angeles (Bell Gardens) in 2019.
