Brandon Steven is one of the most well-known and successful poker players in the United States. He owns a number of dealerships in Kansas and California. Also, he is the co-owner of two hockey teams, both of which compete in the ECHL. He is also a co-owner of Genesis Health Clubs, which has 60 locations in the Midwest. 

Brandon is also a regular on live-stream poker shows such as Hustler Casino Live, Poker After Dark, & High stakes Poker. These shows are where some of the biggest names in poker compete alongside regulars as well as hand-picked-by-the-hosts special guests. He also competes in live tournaments and has earned over $6.7 million in total live earnings.

Brandon Steven: Early Life

Brandon Steven was born in Wichita, Kansas, on July 25, 1973. He was already doing errands at the age of 12 years old, such as collecting and selling pigeons, snow removal, and car washing. Then he began selling cars at the age of 17.

Steven attended Kapaun Mt. Carmel Catholic School in Wichita for high school. He attended Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, and earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree. He was an active fraternity member in college and received numerous awards for his extracurricular activities. 

After graduation, he established a telephone-based car-finding service, then repaired and sold vehicles. After successfully flipping a few vehicles, he used all of his skills to open Brandon Steven Motors in a small used car lot. 

Brandon Steven: Poker Career

Brandon Steven plays cash games, online tournaments, and live tournaments. He has participated in various poker events and has established a reputation in the poker scene.

Steven has earned over $6.7 million in total live earnings from his live tournament participation and currently ranks first on the Kansas All-Time Money List. He made his first appearance in the Fifth Annual Five Diamond World Poker Classic in Las Vegas in December 2006, finishing 16th.

In 2007, he competed in two tournaments in Las Vegas: the Wynn Classic and the 38th World Series of Poker. In the following year, 2008, he competed in the WPT Championship Event Gold Strike World Poker Open in Tunica. He came in 27th place and earned $12,060.

In February 2009, he reached the final table of the No Limit Hold’em Main Event Oklahoma State Championship of Poker in Tulsa and finished ninth, earning $8,381. The following July of 2010, he competed in another WSOP event in Las Vegas, the 41st World Championship No Limit Hold’em, finishing 10th and earning $635,011.

Brandon Steven has been producing excellent results in the various tournaments in which he has participated, with the majority of them ending in a final table finish.

He’s made a name for himself as a poker player as well as a successful businessman. As evidence of his success, he cashes the biggest cash of his tournament career at the 53rd World Series of Poker in Las Vegas in June 2022, earning a massive $2,820,581 by placing second. William Foxen took first place and received $4,563,700.

Steven’s most recent and last live tournament appearance was in July 2023, when he competed in the 54th World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, where he finished 7th and earned $99,817. Of course, the winner was Phil Hellmuth Jr., who took home $803,818.

Brandon Steven’s Cash Game Participation

Brandon Steven has been juggling between live tournaments and cash games. His first cash game participation and appearance were at the Super High Roller in February 2015. He then took part in Poker After Dark in August of 2017. He was seen playing at High Stakes Poker in 2020 and 2021, as well as Season 9 and Episodes 17, 18, 19, and 20 at WPT Cash in June 2021, where he lost $111,100.
