Billy Argyros known as “The Croc” is a Australian professional poker player from Donvale, Australia, with over $1.9 million in live tournament earnings. His best live cash of $268,605 came when he finished in 4th place at the 39th WSOP in June 2008.

He is one of Australia’s all-time greats, a Greek Australian Gambler & Australian Poker Hall of Fame Member. His interest in poker sparked after he lost money at a game that his friend had hosted, prompting him to study strategy and significantly improve his skills.

He also appeared as the resident expert on the television show “Australian Celebrity Poker Challenge,” where contestants could seek his advice during play. His nickname originated during a satellite event for the World Series of Poker, where he introduced himself as “Crocodile Billy,” inspired by the film “Crocodile Dundee.”

Billy Argyros recorded his first live cash in July 1989, he placed 3rd in the No Limit Hold’em event at the All England No Limit Hold’em Grand Prix in London, earning $13,162.

Then, in August 2005, he finished 2nd in the $20,000 No Limit Hold’em event at the Victorian Poker Championships in Melbourne, earning $96,812.

Continuing his success, in June 2008, Argyros secured 4th place in the $10,000 World Championship Pot Limit Omaha at the 39th World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, cashing $268,605.

Later, in September 2013, he won 1st place in the $2,700 + 300 No Limit Hold’em Main Event at the Asia Pacific Poker Tour in Melbourne, taking home $121,264.

In addition, in May 2014, he placed 3rd in the $25,000 No Limit Hold’em Main Event at the Asia Pacific Poker Tour in Macau, earning $121,251.

Furthermore, in January 2020, he finished 2nd in the $1,800 + 200 No Limit Hold’em Bounty Event at the Aussie Millions Poker Championship in Melbourne, earning $83,260.

Most recently, in September 2024, he placed 11th in the $1,000 + 150 No Limit Hold’em World Champs Road to Vegas at the World Poker Tour Australia Championship in Gold Coast, cashing $2,004.
