Barry Shulman is an American professional poker player and CEO of Card Player Media born on May 8, 1946, in Seattle, Washington. Barry has accumulated over $6.2 million in live career earnings and has won two WSOP bracelets. His best live cash of $1,350,000 came when he finished in 3rd place at PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in January 2010.

In addition, he is the author of ’52 Tips For No-Limit Hold’em Texas Hold’em’ (2005) and ‘How to Win at Online Poker’ (2014). He has a son who is also a poker player, Jeff Shulman.

He started playing poker while studying accounting at the University of Washington. After graduating, Barry worked in real estate as a developer for 25 years. He frequently visited Las Vegas to play poker, and in 1993, he achieved his first significant success by finishing 2nd in the Winter Oasis tournament.

After retiring from real estate around 1990, he moved to Las Vegas and continued playing in various tournaments. In 1999, he used his retirement savings to buy CardPlayer and has since turned it into a leading source for poker information. In April 2001, Barry entered in a $1,500 + 90 Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo Split Eight or Better at the 32nd World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. He finished in 1st place and won $123,820.
