Ali Eslami, who previously worked as a computer consultant, is a professional poker player from Tehran, Iran. He resides in Los Angeles, California, and has $2,232,437 in total live earnings. His best live cash was $282,242 at the WSOPC San Diego. In June 2022, he won his first WSOP bracelet in the $1,500 Stud Eight-or-Better Event, earning $135,260. Eslami grew up with a passion for strategic games, which began with his semi-professional involvement in Magic: The Gathering during his teens and early 20s. Encouraged by friends from the Magic community who found success in poker, Eslami transitioned to poker and began honing his skills by studying “Hold’em Poker for Advanced Players”s. He started playing low-stakes $2-$4 limit hold’em games before steadily moving up through higher stakes over the next year.
While pursuing a business management degree, Eslami balanced his studies and poker by bringing his textbooks to the casino. He once spent an entire night studying for finals while playing $20-$40 limit hold’em at Hollywood Park Casino. Despite an early setback involving an altercation that led him to step away from poker briefly, he completed his degree. He resumed playing, eventually breaking into higher-stake games at Commerce Casino.
Ali Eslami achieved his first recorded live cash in May 2004. At the 35th WSOP in Las Vegas, he placed 4th in the $10,000 World Championship Event and earned $45,000.
