Abe Mosseri is an American professional poker player originally from Brooklyn, New York, who later moved to Manhattan. He has over $2.2 million in live tournament earnings.
Born on June 21, 1974, Abe began his competitive journey in Backgammon, where he achieved considerable success. Transitioning to poker, he built on his skills and won two World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelets: the first at the 40th WSOP in June 2009 and the second at the 48th WSOP in June 2017. His best live cash came in June 2014 at the 45th WSOP, where he finished in 4th place, earning $402,696.
Abe was one of the individuals charged in the FBI’s investigation into a high-stakes gambling ring linked to the Russian mob. The gambling operation involved illegal sports betting and catered to wealthy clients in the U.S. and Europe. Mosser was implicated in the illegal activities surrounding the gambling ring.
He pleaded guilty to his involvement in the operation. The FBI investigation, which included wiretapping a unit at Trump Tower that belonged to one of the key figures in the gambling ring, Vadim Trincher, led to multiple arrests and charges. Trincher was sentenced to five years in prison in 2014, and Mosseri was among 30 individuals charged in the case.
Abe’s first recorded live cash occurred in December 2003 at the Bellagio Five-Diamond World Poker Classic. He finished in 4th place in a $10,000 + 200 No Limit Hold’em Championship, cashing $174,585.
Fast forward to June 2009. At the 40th WSOP, he won a prize of $165,513. In this event, Abe engaged in a $2,500 Deuce to Seven Triple Draw and finished in 1st place.
Then, in May 2010, Abe placed 11th at the 41st WSOP. He pocketed $129,957 in a $50,000 The Players Championship 8 Game event.
In the following years, he finished in 4th place at the 45th WSOP in June 2014. He secured his biggest live cash of $402,696 in the $50,000 Poker Player Championship Event #46.
On June 4, 2017, Abe played in a $10,000 Omaha Hi/Lo Championship Event #9 at the 48th WSOP. He made his mark by securing his second bracelet and won $388,795.
Shortly after, on June 24, 2017, Mosseri finished in 3rd place at the 48th WSOP and won $138,608 in the $10,000 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo Championship Event #48.
