The 888live series took place in Coventry, England, from Friday, October 20th, to Sunday, October 29th, 2023. After the series we had a conversation with Marlo Nielsen, who participated in the Pot Limit Omaha (PLO) Bounty event with a buy-in of £150 + £150 + £30, (£330). Marlo goes by the Twitch handle “LimeRickey71” and is recognized as both a streamer and a moderator for various channels.
I work for Snap Call Media, who are responsible for video content and social media management for 888poker. I started working for them in 2022 as a Twitch Moderator for 888pokerTV. Managing chat activities and identifying and marking key moments in the stream for video content. However, I wanted to learn more about how things work behind the scenes, at a live poker event. Having prior education and work history in media broadcasting and film, along with a keen interest in poker – so it was a really wonderful opportunity to pursue all the things I’m passionate about. Gratefully Snap Call Media and 888poker welcomed me to come along, and I spent my time there working closely with the team learning, supporting and helping out in any way I could behind the scenes.
Actually I have a lot of experience playing live locally here in Calgary. Coventry was my first time traveling to a poker event and my first time at an event for 888poker. But I play scheduled tournaments at my local casino here at home on a regular basis, both in Hold’Em and PLO. I’ve also played in the WSOP circuit here at home and cashed a side event in May.
There were a couple of key moments at the final table, but one moment in particular takes the cake. I was in a 3 way All In hand with KKJ4 (with
) and both of my opponents were holding double-suited AAxx. The Flop bricked but the Turn was which brought a Set for one opponent and the Nut Flush Draw for the other (I had Heart Blockers! ), but then I hit the miracle case on the River to scoop the pot with Top Set. One of my colleagues captured this moment on video where I couldn’t contain my elation, but I felt bad afterwards for celebrating the win and apologized. I always say there are no “sorrys” in poker, but in this case I did quietly apologize. It was at this moment that I realized that I could actually win the tournament and became the overwhelming chip leader.Congratulations to Marlo taking the Chip-lead to the Final Table, and managing to hold on for the win. Cashing for 2425£ + 1650£ (Bounties). You can find her streaming on her Twitch channel. Marlo streams various games such as: Hold’em, PLO, 2-7 Single Draw, Omaha Hi-Lo etc. She is currently focusing on well-being and a more balanced life after taking a work-related hiatus from streaming.
