Prominent Twitch streamer and professional Poker player Lex Veldhuis has decided to relinquish his Twitch Partner status in order to gain more flexibility and options for his streaming endeavors. The Dutch Streamer made the surprising announcement on his Twitter account citing his dissatisfaction with the restrictions that came with being a Twitch Partner.

Veldhuis expressed his frustration with not being allowed to stream on multiple platforms simultaneously. He emphasized that he’s asking his viewers to not subscribe anymore, as he’s still in the process of transitioning away from his Twitch Partner status.

This decision wasn’t made lightly, as Veldhuis revealed that his Twitch Partner status was bringing in around $60,000 annually. This financial sacrifice indicates his commitment to pursuing more freedom in his streaming career.

For the past seven years, streaming has been Veldhuis’s main focus, making him the most successful poker streamer globally. With over 300,000 followers on his twitch channel. His life has undergone significant changes, including getting married and starting a family. However, his ability to stay in the Netherlands was hampered by local legislation affecting online poker, leading him having to commute to Belgium to play and stream poker

Veldhuis will Dual Stream on Twitch & YouTube

While Veldhuis will continue streaming on Twitch, he plans to also stream simultaneously on YouTube to expand his reach. He’s also exploring various avenues for content creation beyond streaming.

Another factor contributing to his decision was Veldhuis’s perception that Twitch was not prioritizing poker content as much as before. He believes poker has been overshadowed by negative associations with unregulated gambling content that was removed from the platform. This shift in focus led him to believe that Twitch no longer deserves an exclusive hold on his poker content.

Moving forward, Veldhuis intends to create more content from home and travel to Belgium primarily for major poker events. He expressed his love for the game and his eagerness to embark on a new chapter in his career with greater creative control.
