Dario Sammartino & Nils Pudel were the players involved in the hand when the field was down to 14/817 with the average stack at 5.8 million, blinds were 50k/100k/100k

First to act was Pudel (6.4M) Who min raised it to 200k with KKing of DiamondsJJoker of Diamonds. this got the entire table to fold, until Dario (3m) defended in the BB with 1010 of Diamonds77 of Diamonds. Two players went to the flop with 550k in the middle.

the flop came down 99 of Diamonds55 of Spades1010 of Heartsgiving Sammartino top pair, Pudel had a gutshot, and both players had a backdoor flush-draw. Dario first to act, checked it over to the pre flop aggressor. Nils fired out a continuation bet of 280k, to which Dario called. The pot now stood at 1.1M.

What a Price for Pudel

The turn was an action card for sure. Dario had picked up two pair, Nils now had a double gutter to go with his two over cards. This time first to act, Dario reached for chips and led out with a close to quarter pot bet of 225k. What a price for Pudel. He was getting close to six to one on his money, giving his stack size too, this was a spot he just had to call. To the river they went with 1.6m in play.

the river revealed the QQueen of Heartscompleting Sammartino’s straight draw. Not a great card to see at all, backdoor heart flushes would have got there too. Clearly not liking the run out, Dario checked it over. This led to Pudel putting out a hefty bet of 1.3m. Believing his opponent can have enough bluffs in this spot he made the call, giving Nils the huge 4.2m pot.
