Anthony Owo Makes An Incredible Hero Call During Friday Night Poker at Dusk Till Dawn

Having had their pilot stream just before Christmas, the Friday night event is now running bi-weekly. Let’s delve into a hand that featured an incredible hero call from Anthony Owo against Jagger. The action was live-streamed on Dusk Till Dawn’s YouTube Channel on the 23rd of February 2024, with the blinds set at £10/£25/£50.
The action began with an under-the-gun straddle of £75 from Micky (£6.6k) who was holding K

. Jagger (£11.4k) in the big blind called with 8
7 and Anthony (5.3k) in the 3rd blind joined the action with 86. Going to the flop the pot stood at £310.
The flop came down 9QA giving Anthony a spade flush draw. First to act Jagger decided to stab at the pot and led out with a bet of £150. This was looked up by Owo, having completely missed Micky folded his king-high. There was now £610 in the middle, heads-up to the turn they went.

On the turn was another ace A
a card that was unlikely to hit either player considering the action pre-flop. However, that did not prevent Jagger from taking another stab at the pot. This time his bet was a huge one, an overbet of £850 is what Anthony was now faced with. Although the price he was getting was incredibly bad, Owo called. Perhaps with the intention to try and take the pot away on the river if the spades were to miss. There was now a staggering £2.3k in the middle, with both players having just eight high.
This hand was far from over, even though Anthony missed the flush he picked up a pair of sixes when the 6 landed on the river. Talking of not being over, neither was Jagger. He was fully committed, “All In” was his play. Fairplay to Anthony he gave the hand a lot of thought. His opponent’s line was very unconventional and made little sense. It was either one of two things, his opponent was super nutted. or was stone-cold bluffing? Owo leaned towards the latter and made the sick hero call, and what a call it was!
